Walking amongst the Alaskan grizzly bears of Lake Clark National Park is definitely a life changing experience…

The summer months for this species are all about food, with the grizzly bear’s omnivorous diet allowing them to snack not only onsalmon, but also on clams dug up along the coastline, sedge grass, berries and less frequently on carrion found by the bears.

With males often weighing over 600 kgs and standing at a height of up to 3 metres on their hind legs, they are certainly an impressive sight to see… And having the opportunity to literally walk amongst them as we spend time in the incredible surroundings of Lake Clark National Park, is an experience not to be compared with any other.
